HAVE NEEDLE, WILL by Laura Davis

£8.00

Full-colour pamphlet of poems in words and fabric, exploring ideas of place and belonging through contemporary scenes and ancient myth.

‘ALL THE EMBROIDERY METAPHORS apply to Davis’s astonishing and intricate poetic of words and images: there is ravelling and unravelling, tangling and untangling, there are complex knots and neat stitches. But there is also an underlying tension, the urge to pull on the thread until it breaks, the need to couch in a foreign tongue, the urgency of another plane, other air, a desire to bury the past under red earth, an insatiable restlessness.’ — Martin Wakefield

‘“THE GREAT RIVERS TWILL // Our yarn twists labyrinth”. Ranging across continents and media, current politics and myth, Laura Davis’s contemplative text poems beautifully interleave her cyanotypes, handmade papers, phototransfers, and linen ecoprints. Have Thread, Will builds on Found & Lost and extends Davis’s fruitful exploration of what constitutes a “native”.’ — Sylee Gore
